Our Field of Dreams

The 2008 baseball season will be the ninth season in the Maize High School Baseball Facility. Construction of the field began in the summer of 1998, and since that time, many improvements and additions have been made. The fence and dugouts were completed in 1999 and the first double-header was played April 6, 2000. The coaches, players, and fans of the 2001 season enjoyed new turfed batting cages, individual storage compartments and bench seats in the dugouts and a storage facility in the visitors' dugout. Box seats, the parking facility and the center field "Home of the Eagles" sign were new additions in 2001. The Eagle sign on the visitors' dugout and the new Junior Varsity field were also added. The pressbox and concession stand/restrooms were completed in the Spring of 2003. In 2004, locker rooms were added for umpires, coaches and players. For the 2006 season, a new scoreboard, a new sound system, additional bleachers, a new infield dragger, a reel mower, and pads in the dugout were added. The entire varsity infield was also resodded. A great deal of this work has been accomplished by many volunteer hours from parents, players and coaches. A player clubhouse and an indoor practice facility are two items that remain on the drawing board for this complex that we are proud to call our "Field of Dreams."
